A Day Trader's two worst Emotional Enemies

To successfully trade any financial, currency or commodity market has always been only a dream for almost all of those who seek to prosper from it in any way unimaginable by the common man. It gives those that succeed at it a quality of life that can only be dreamed of by the common folks. It does not matter how high paying a job or business that a person might have, it always comes with a hefty price one winds up paying. That price paid by many is in the form of precious time. Time is like the water flowing in a river, it never passes the same course twice.

Those that do become very successful at trading have managed to change their lives forever for the better. Once they are past the initial learning phase, time becomes their own. They do have to worry about employees or employers any more. They do not have to worry about answering to anyone but themselves. They are pretty much free to do what they wish to do and live their lives in any way that they choose to. Their trading day can last as long as they would like it to last. They can trade from anywhere in the world as long as they have access to a PC and a high speed Internet connection. They can choose to take on any other form of work they wish to just for the fun of it rather than from a financial need side like needing money to live on and can stop the same just as easily too.

Trading is definitely simple, yet it is most certainly not easy either. Many people from the outside world and from all walks of life come to trading thinking that it is really easy to make a lot of money trading. This is so far away from the truth. Anyone who truly wants to become a successful trader should really make sure that they understand themselves, especially their minds, completely. They must be prepared for the trading business like any other business out there with adequate knowledge, a solid trading plan and definitely a lot of practice. The biggest challenge faced by all aspiring traders is the battle that they constantly have within themselves. Traders must learn to achieve a state of mental discipline that does completely eliminate the two biggest emotions every trader must fight with within himself or herself. They are FEAR and GREED. It takes a lot of hard work and effort on the part of the trader to completely eliminate the emotions of fear and greed from their system completely. Once eliminated, a trader can reach heights that few can only dare to dream.

It definitely takes a lot of time, practice and effort to overcome the fear and greed factors residing in every human being, whether a trader or not. And IT is the ONLY WAY to become successful as a trader. It requires a trader to spend as much time practicing after the market close as he or she might spend actually watching and trading the markets. But in the end it is all worth it as the rewards are so very satisfying in any way, shape or form imaginable. Trading is all about taking on risk and not too many people want to take on a lot of it in life. But with knowledge and discipline, risks can be managed and controlled, which in turn lets the rewards roll in.

Good Luck with your trading journey.
